Great podcast, guys. I really love these episodes dedicated just to talking about a specific band/artist and I hope you do more. I have to say that my favorite MM album is somewhere between Long Drive and Lonesome Crowded West, I guess I have a bias for their earlier material since that's what I first heard from them and those two records really resonated with me, I guess it also has to do with production value, being young I preferred music that had more of a grit to it and they sort of lost that over the years. I'm still a fan of their later material, I think Moon & Antarctica is a great record, although it took some time to grow with me. But yeah, I agree with that you said and I hope the band can find a way to really get their sound right and make another solid record.

Thank you guys for doing this! I've had so many discussions about Modest Mouse with my friends, and it was very interesting to hear you guys say some of the same things I've talked about as well! It really felt like a personal conversation, which is why I love podcasts so much. You guys mentioned how they were playing with 2 drummers for a bit and were not sure why. The reasoning for that was because after the release and tour of the Moon and Antarctica, Jermiah Greene left the band for still not fully explained reasons, and so MM needed a new drummer and recruited Benjamin Weikel(from the Helio Sequence) and they then recorded Good News, which you can definitely tell the difference in drummers, which even though Greene is one of my favorite drummers, I felt Weikel performed just as good with a different more spastic style that added a slightly different interesting element to Mm (Ocean Breathes Salty is an excellent example of his drumming style). Anyway after good news, Jeremy decided to come back, and they figured out a way to have both drummers live. However, Soon after Jeremy came back Weikel left and focused more on the Helio Sequence, and MM has just continued with the 2 drummer setup ever since.
Sorry for the long text but I felt like you guys would appreciate the music nerd insight! I also would really really love to hear you're guys thoughts on the new Built to spill record because I think it is up there with their best records.
